02Description
Delegate COMP Yield Strategy tokens to the Compound Foundation
Dear Compound community,
As we have a significant amount of COMP still to be deployed into the strategy as we wait for yield opportunities and volatility to pick up, we believe it prudent to delegate these to the Compound Foundation in the meantime. While the amount will fluctuate as the strategy continues to get deployed, this will help bolster governance participation and utilization, particularly in the short-term.
Since we, Avantgarde, hold no control over the Avatar safe (which is owned by the Compound Timelock contract) where these COMP tokens are held, delegating these requires an on-chain proposal.
There will be no other changes and operational changes to the strategy itself.
03Mismatch analysis
The proposal contains a single action: the Avatar Safe (holding the COMP Yield Strategy tokens) executes a call to the official COMP token contract's delegate(address) function, targeting a single delegatee address. This exactly matches the description's stated intent to delegate the strategy's idle COMP tokens to the Compound Foundation via an on-chain proposal executed through the Safe (since Avantgarde lacks direct control). There is only one action, consistent with the claim of 'no other changes' to the strategy. The target contract address matches the known COMP token address, and the function called (delegate) is the standard governance delegation mechanism, so the calldata faithfully implements the stated purpose. I cannot independently verify off-chain that the destination address is literally the Compound Foundation's official delegate address, but nothing in the calldata contradicts the description, and no additional or omitted actions are present. No numeric values, transfers of funds, or extra permissions are involved, so there is no discrepancy to flag beyond the inherent limit of not being able to confirm the real-world identity of the delegatee address from calldata alone.

- Extension of the COMP Yield Strategy Pilot ↗discourse · high confidence
Arguments for
- The initial pilot delivered strong, verified annualized yields (15-16%) and meaningful premium income, justifying scaling the strategy from ~$1.6M to $9M.— Avantgarde, PGov
- The strategy provides a reliable, COMP-denominated revenue stream that complements Gauntlet's USDC reserve management and helps slow treasury depletion as DAO spending grows.— Avantgarde
- Execution via MYSO's audited, trust-minimized Avatar/Manager Safe setup keeps funds under DAO visibility and control, avoiding counterparty risk while remaining decentralized and transparent.— Avantgarde
- A phased, staggered tranche deployment (rather than deploying all capital at once) manages market depth, liquidity, and pricing risk as the strategy scales.— Avantgarde, pennblockchain, Gauntlet
- Ongoing quarterly (and later more frequent) public reporting of tranche performance, premiums, and safe addresses provides transparency and lets the DAO track results over time.— Avantgarde, Gauntlet, AranaDigital
- Delegating idle, not-yet-deployed COMP to the Compound Foundation in the interim strengthens governance participation without changing the strategy's operations.— Avantgarde
- Success of the yield strategy could eventually support complementary initiatives like a future COMP buyback program to build long-term confidence in the token.— Jorstack
Arguments against
None surfaced.
Unresolved concerns
- Whether the DAO would receive concrete, quantified worst-case drawdown and COMP-liquidity figures (beyond the qualitative 'opportunity cost' framing) if strikes were hit and conversion occurred.— pennblockchain
- Gauntlet requested monthly reporting cadence for tracking realized premiums, but Avantgarde continued reporting on a quarterly basis instead.— Gauntlet
- A planned infrastructure upgrade to let Avantgarde keep writing covered calls without sacrificing COMP's governance voting power was still pending a governance proposal and security review at the end of the thread.— Avantgarde

- JorstackSupportive commenter who floated a future buyback program idea building on the strategy's success.
- pennblockchainCautious supporter (affiliated with FranklinDAO) who pressed for risk-adjusted analysis, drawdown scenarios, and phased rollout.
- GauntletRisk-focused delegate who conditioned support on detailed reporting requirements and later requested more frequent premium disclosures.
