Dynamic Risk Parameters - Quarterly Update
01Summary
Gauntlet's quarterly Dynamic Risk Parameters engagement update that replaces their existing COMP contributor grant stream with a new Sablier stream. The proposal sets Gauntlet's Contributor Comp Speed to zero and establishes a new streaming payment of approximately 21.21M COMP tokens.
- Type
- treasury allocation
Key changes
- Set Gauntlet's Contributor Comp Speed to zero, terminating the existing COMP stream(high)
- Approve Sablier contract to transfer 21,213,001,006,232,907,484,467 COMP tokens(high)
- Create new Sablier stream to Gauntlet for COMP token distribution from timestamp 1643184000 to 1664265601(high)
Notable concerns
- Migration from traditional contributor grant to Sablier stream requires successful stream creation and token approval
- The token amount streamed represents a quarterly service fee update following Gauntlet's Dynamic Risk Parameters formula

02Description
Dynamic Risk Parameters - Quarterly Update
Background
Over the past several months, Gauntlet has been executing on its Dynamic Risk Parameters engagement to continuously optimize capital efficiency and mitigate depositor losses. In just a quarter, Gauntlet has launched the Risk Dashboard, implemented 5 sets of parameter recommendations, published 2 monthly risk reviews, and safely unlocked additional borrow for Compound while maintaining protocol risk at safe levels.
Replacing Existing Contributor Grant with Sablier Stream
As outlined in the original proposal, at the start of every quarter Gauntlet will create a proposal to update the service fee payment (higher or lower) in accordance with the formula outlined in the proposal.
As it is the beginning of a new quarter, Gauntlet is updating its streaming grant. In addition, as was requested by the Compound community, Gauntlet will replace its existing COMP stream with a Sablier stream. This governance proposal sets the Contributor Comp Speed to Gauntlet to zero and sets up a Sablier stream to Gauntlet instead.

Arguments for
- Gauntlet's Q4 2021 work successfully unlocked $832.5M in additional borrow capacity while maintaining protocol safety, generating $2.54M in additional annual protocol income.— pauljlei
- Gauntlet has delivered tangible outputs including a risk dashboard, five sets of parameter recommendations, and monthly risk reviews to keep the community informed.— pauljlei, RogerS
- The quarterly fee formula is transparent, mechanistic, and ties Gauntlet's compensation directly to protocol metrics including asset count, borrow volume, and COMP price.— pauljlei
- Gauntlet is making ongoing platform improvements including intra-day DEX price updates and Uniswap V3 liquidity integration to enhance risk management capability.— pauljlei
Arguments against
None surfaced.
Unresolved concerns
- The risk dashboard lacks sufficient intuitiveness and would benefit from clearer documentation of inputs, outputs, parameters, and mathematical formulas underlying the methodology.— RogerS
- Gauntlet should provide formal documentation including business requirements, functional requirements, and a requirements traceability matrix, similar to rigorous risk management processes in traditional organizations.— RogerS
- The community lacks visibility into Gauntlet's project plan and timeline for forthcoming deliverables, making it difficult to anticipate developments or assess progress.— RogerS
- Gauntlet should position itself as a risk education provider, making its methodology intuitively understandable to average Compound users, not just specialists.— RogerS
Notable participants
