Risk Parameter Updates for Aave V2 (2022-11-17)
01Summary
Proposal to reduce REN market risk on Aave V2 by adjusting Liquidation Threshold and Loan To Value parameters. Continues de-risking efforts from AIP 117 by lowering REN's collateral usage ratios to protect against market volatility.
- Type
- parameter change
Key changes
- Adjustment of Liquidation Threshold for REN asset to reduce liquidation risk(high)
- Adjustment of Loan To Value for REN asset to reduce collateral efficiency and market exposure(high)
Notable concerns
- REN market requires continued de-risking following previous AIP 117 recommendations
- Top borrowers and suppliers concentrations identified in supporting data require monitoring

02Description
Simple Summary
A proposal to adjust two (2) total risk parameters, including Liquidation Threshold and Loan To Value, across one (1) Aave V2 asset.
Motivation
This set of recommendations follows AIP 117 to further de-risk the REN market.

Aave V2 Parameter Changes Specification
Gauntlet's simulation engine will continue to adjust risk parameters to protect against outsized market risk while optimizing for capital efficiency.
These parameter recommendations reflect the unique situation of REN in the current market conditions.

Implementation
The proposal sets the LTV and liquidation threshold ratios by calling configureReserveAsCollateral on the LendingPoolConfigurator using the address and parameters specific to each token.
The full list of parameter updates can be found in the forum.

Gauntlet launched an insolvency refund for Aave that contains a portion of our payment stream that can be clawed back in the event of insolvencies due to market risk. Since our last recommendation there have been no new insolvencies in Aave. Gauntlet’s Insolvency Refund vault is still live and can be seen here 0x7667095Caa12b79fCa489ff6E2198Ca01fDAe057

03Mismatch analysis
The proposal describes a single risk-parameter update to one Aave V2 asset (REN), adjusting LTV and Liquidation Threshold via `configureReserveAsCollateral` on the LendingPoolConfigurator, consistent with Gauntlet's standard risk parameter update pattern following AIP-117. The decoded calldata contains exactly one action calling this exact function with three parameters: LTV, Liquidation Threshold, and Liquidation Bonus. The first two align with what the description claims will be changed. The third parameter (Liquidation Bonus) is a mandatory argument of the function signature and its inclusion is routine/boilerplate — not a separately disclosed action, and thus not a discrepancy per the guidelines. The specific numeric values (55%, 60%, 107.5% bonus) are only visible in an embedded image in the description, which I cannot independently verify pixel-for-pixel, so confidence is medium rather than high. However, the structure, target contract, function called, and scope (one asset, two parameters) all match the description's claims, with no evidence of extra hidden actions, wrong targets, or omitted significant actions. No discrepancies were identified.
